STUPID PC

It's excruciatingly upsetting especially after typing a long post only to find your computer freezing abruptly. Okay, it just happened last night. The speakers gave a loud roar and the screen stood static for a moment before I realised what had happened. My stupid PC. I'm sure such catastrophe is less likely to occur if I'm only using a Mac. Someone please tell me that I'm right.

I'm dying to have a Mac. And I'm pondering if I should save up for an iBook or a less costly Line-6 Spider II 15 Marshall guitar amplifier. Christmas is approaching and it calls for a time of rejoicing and much self-indulging! Okay, maybe I'm wrong. In fact, Christmas exists for us to remember the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. The funny thing is, Jesus wasn't technically conceived on the 25th of December. And unfortunately, no one really knows the exact date of his birth. It's quite a shame, isn't it?

I'm about to retype what I had lost last night. Bear with me.

First and foremost, I'm utmost distressed because my family maid had just returned home. Yes home - Indonesia. And she will not be coming back. Hence, from today onwards, I would have to be actively involved in household chores and domestic affairs. Such as drying underwears under the sun. And making my own bed. Packing my table. And washing the dishes. And cleaning the toilet! Personally, I see these as chicken feet but it might take a while for me to ignite my engine. Well, here comes my good pre-training for my NS days.

Okay, let me finish my story about my screwed up PC. [This part is the dry technical bit; skip it unless you're an I.T enthusiast. But carry on reading if you want to improve your knowledge and I.T skills *wink*] After restarting the computer, I was unable to enter my desktop. The screened showed Windows Is Loading .. And I presumed it never did finish loading cus the page never changed. So I entered into SAFE MODE and backuped my files, reformatted it and performed an Image of my C drive. Allow me to explain about this Image process and you might want to do the same next time. Imaging creates an exact duplica of your drive, such as your drive C. What I did was simple - I reinstalled Windows XP, put back all my essential softwares such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop CS, Nero Ultra edition, graphic and sound drivers and finally replicate the entire drive into a single file. This file is now known as the image file. I burn this image file into a DVD using the
Acronis software. So in an event my computer goes bonkers again, all I need to do is to restore that image file which merely takes 5 minutes! And boy, that saves all whole lot of time and effort. Besides, the restoration includes all your device drivers and software! Isn't that amazing?!

Okay, enough of these raw and dry I.T stuff. We went to Labrador park to skate yesterday. And Sherry was as fun-loving, crappie and down-to-earth as always. My sassy neighbour. Apparently, it is said that the park is secretly linked to sentosa via a secret passageway. How interesting!
